Matt and Tori met in August 2014, during welcome weekend before the semester began. It wasn’t love at first sight, but they quickly became close friends, finding their way back to each other nearly every weekend.

Then came March 11, 2015.

That night, something shifted. They stayed up until the early hours swapping stories, sharing their favorite music, laughing, dancing, and realizing how effortlessly they understood one another. It felt less like getting to know someone new and more like recognizing someone they had somehow known before.

They shared a bottle of Veuve Clicquot that night, never imagining it would mark the beginning of a love story more than a decade in the making. Tori saved the cork and later gave it to Matt for an anniversary. Today, it still sits on their bookshelf as a small reminder of the night everything changed.

Since then, Matt and Tori have built a life full of adventure. Together they have traveled through Mexico, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Portugal; snuck into the Paris catacombs with locals; scuba dived with bull sharks; explored cenotes; spent countless days sailing; and gone from Matt teaching Tori how to ski to the two tackling double-black diamonds together.

But some of their favorite moments are the ordinary ones. More than a decade later, everyday life still feels a little like an extended honeymoon—cooking dinner (separately, because Tori requires full control of the kitchen), working out together, watching movies, reading, and spending time with their cats. Somehow, even a simple Tuesday still feels like date night.

Over the years, they have also had the privilege of growing up alongside one another, cheering each other on through new chapters, challenges, and milestones.

During Tori’s final semester of law school, Matt proposed on her 29th birthday in Cabo San Lucas, on a beach filled with some of her most treasured childhood memories. Afterward, they had dinner on the cliff above—the same cliff Tori once crossed with her family, including her late Grandpa Kan and beloved Abuelita Maria to reach that special beach.

Sitting there with Matt, it felt as though every version of little Tori had somehow been leading to that moment.

From an all-night conversation and a bottle of Veuve in 2015 to a proposal on a beach from Tori’s childhood, their story has been filled with adventures, ordinary Tuesdays, and more than a decade of growing together. Now, Matt and Tori cannot wait to begin their next chapter as husband and wife.
